Ram Iyer and Sid Milstein to discuss
how to raise performance, avoid project failure and disappointing
outcomes in offshore outsourcing
Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) June 29, 2005 -- Argea announced today that
Ram Iyer, Founder & CEO of Argea, the outsourcing consulting
company, and Sid Milstein, former President of Global Processing
for GE Capital and Argea’s BPO Practice Leader, will be a
featured panelists in the second of three web seminars presented
by The Conference Board, entitled Making Offshoring Pay Off: Avoiding
Failure and Disappointing Outcomes.
The web cast, offered to corporate decision-makers and influencers,
addresses key requirements that assure success and achieve business
outcomes in offshore outsourcing and is designed to help US companies
improve their global competitiveness in a time when challenges are
emanating from countries all over the world. The timely content
of the web cast is derived from The Conference Board’s recent
publication Beyond Cost; Financial and Operational Risk.
Increasingly, outsourcing and offshoring is producing a competitive
‘leveling’ effect for companies that are struggling
to maintain and gain market share, customers and profitability.
Outsourcing and offshoring can be both defensive and offensive weapons
that stave off competitive threats and secure access to new markets
and customers. For a growing number of companies in highly competitive
industry sectors, outsourcing and offshoring is no longer viewed
as an option, but rather as an imperative.
Said Ton Heijmen, Senior Outsourcing/Offshoring Advisor to The
Conference Board, “Whether a company chooses to implement
an offshoring strategy or not, the Conference Board’s decision-making
framework provides a 360 degree view that enables a holistic approach
and considered decision making. Following this framework will help
companies achieve success with their offshoring strategies.”
However, decision-makers in US companies need to be well-informed
about risks and opportunities before launching outsourcing and offshoring
initiatives. Ram Iyer, CEO of Argea, said, “We have found,
from working with clients - and from an international survey we
conducted in 2004 - that companies embarking on outsourcing and
offshoring repeat the mistakes of others, across industries and
company sizes. Leveraging the knowledge of experienced practitioners
will dramatically improve the outcomes of these projects. The Conference
Board is performing a much-needed service in guiding companies on
how to think it through.”
Sid Milstein, the EVP and BPO Practice Head for Argea, will bring
the perspective of a highly accomplished practitioner of offshore
outsourcing to the panel. He was one of the early pioneers in developing
GE’s offshore processing capability in India and Mexico, serving
as President of GE Capital’s Global Processing Services from
1997 to 2001 and SVP of Six Sigma Quality at GE Technology Management
Services. Sid is a Six Sigma Quality Leader and was with GE for
over 25 years. “Competitive pressures are only increasing
the pace of global processing. Successful companies need to not
only identify and implement strategies that ensure an effective
outsourcing process, but also strategies that provide proven quality
and control processes,” said Milstein.
